Privacy & cookie policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Adam’s Marine collects when you visit this website or contact me about work on your boat, why I collect it, and the rights you have over it under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who I am

Adam’s Marine is the trading name of Adam Puchowicz, a sole trader. I am the “controller” of your personal information, which means I decide how it is used.

  • Address: Unit 5, Davis’s Boatyard, Cobb’s Quay, Poole BH15 4EJ, United Kingdom
  • Email: info@adamsmarine.co.uk
  • Phone: 07756 930731

What I collect

This website has no contact form, no account area and no tracking. I only receive personal information when you choose to send it, for example by email, phone, text or Instagram message:

  • Contact details — your name, phone number, email address and postal address.
  • Job details — the boat, engine make and model, its location or mooring, photos you send, and a description of the problem.
  • Records of work and payment — quotes, invoices, payments received and service history.
  • Website server logs — like every website, the hosting provider automatically records technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.

I do not sell your information, use it for marketing lists, or make automated decisions about you.

Who I share it with

Only where it is needed to run the business:

  • my website host (Hostinger) and email provider, who store data on my behalf;
  • my accountant and HMRC, for tax purposes;
  • parts suppliers or manufacturers, where a warranty claim or part order needs your boat or engine details;
  • the boatyard or marina, where needed to arrange access to your boat;
  • insurers, legal advisers or authorities, if required by law or to deal with a claim.

Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to 12 months.
  • Customer, job and payment records: 6 years after the end of the tax year the work was done in, to meet HMRC requirements and cover the period in which a legal claim could be made.
  • Server logs: kept by the hosting provider for a short period, normally no longer than 30 days.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you;
  • ask me to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask me to delete your information, where I have no legal reason to keep it;
  • ask me to restrict or stop using your information, or object to how I use it;
  • ask for your information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on it (for example, for photos posted online).

To use any of these rights, email info@adamsmarine.co.uk. There is no charge, and I will reply within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. I will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), a website needs your consent before setting any cookie that isn’t strictly necessary.

This website does not set any cookies of its own and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Fonts and images are served from this site, not from third parties. That is why you won’t see a cookie banner.

Google Maps (only if you choose to load it)

The map on the contact section is switched off by default. Nothing is sent to Google until you press “Load Google map”. Pressing it is your consent: the map then loads from Google, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, as set out in Google’s cookie policy and privacy policy.
